After a brief day trip to Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park this summer, we knew we wanted to come back and camp for a long weekend. We got lucky and found one site available on short notice for Columbus Day weekend.

For a second weekend in a row, we visited an Army Corp lake and stayed at an Army Corp campground close to home in Southern Illinois. Last week it was Rend Lake. This week it was Carlyle Lake.
Rend Lake is close to home. Although we have camped around the lake a couple times, this isn’t a area that we know well. We took a recent weekend to stay at South Sandusky Campground to be tourists about forty minutes from home.
Little Arrow Outdoor Resort is located in Townsend, TN, an area we consider to be the quiet side of the Smokies. Little Arrow has long been on our list: the campground looked beautiful and the location appeared ideal with close proximity to Cades Cove. Did these expectations hold up during our September visit?
Prairie Creek near Bentonville and Rogers, Arkansas, was our Labor Day weekend destination. Due to a gps programming error, we headed to a different campground at the opposite end of the state, thus delaying our arrival until about 2:30am. Fortunately, the weekend improved.
Prizer Point is a KOA Resort located on Lake Barkley in Kentucky. We visited on the last weekend before school with a group of friends.
We referenced our water and wind woes with the Mantis in a couple of our blogs. With the support of TAXA Outdoors, we think we have corrected the issue.
We had a last minute opportunity to get a long weekend trip in before school started. We were determined to get to Indiana Dunes State and National Parks. We check the sites daily for cancellations and tried to snag a site at nearby public and private campgrounds to no avail. We settled on the only site remaining at Starved Rock State Park, which is no where near Indiana Dunes.
Terre Haute, Indiana, and Griffin Bike Park have been on our to-do list for some time. Finally we booked a site at Shakamak State Park, south of Terre Haute. This is the start of three weekends in a row camping before heading back to school!
After all of the fun our kids had on the Wibit at the Dogwood Valley Jellystone near Columbus, Ohio, they were determined to find another campground with a Wibit. They did the research and discovered Pine Lakes Jellystone near Pittsfield, Illinois, less than four hours from our house. We were lucky enough to grab the last available site for the July 4th weekend.
