We discovered the Robert Newlon Airpark, near Huntington, WV, as a unique stopover halfway home from Washington DC. A new city to explore, a unique campground at an airpark with live music and dinner available? We had to check that out!

After backing out last year, we decided it was time to tackle DC. We wanted to see it all in a week. Is that possible?
About ten days prior to our spring break trip to DC, we decided to upgrade our tow vehicle to a Durango.
We booked a last minute trip to a new to us campground in Nashville once we confirmed the weather was forecasted to be nice for Presidents’ Day Weekend. Due to a work commitment, we delayed leaving until Saturday morning. In hindsight, we are thankful we were able to travel during daylight as we were about to experience our first breakdown with the camper in tow.
Reelfoot Lake, located in northwestern Tennessee near the Mississippi River, is a 15,000 acre lake that was formed by the 1811-12 earthquakes on the New Madrid fault-line. This shallow lake, averaging less than five feet, is swamp-like with cypress trees submerged in many areas of the lake. A region once mapped by Daniel Boone, one that previously housed the only commerical crappie fishing operation in the world, Reelfoot Lake has long been known as an outdoor recreation destination. This is what attracted us and the pursuit of spotting eagles.
For the school's winter break, we monitored the weather around the holidays, looking for a warm few days within a manageable distance. We found an opening - Hot Springs!
We had the opportunity to take a no kids trip to Walt Disney World for a conference. This wasn’t a camping trip, but it was Florida in December - so we went.
Although we keep the Mantis in the garage over the winter, we still follow a plan to winterize our systems to protect against expensive repairs. Read on to learn what we did.
For our fifth consecutive year, we celebrated Thanksgiving at the campground! This year, we headed to Bayou Segnette State Park in Louisiana to serve as our base camp for visiting NOLA!
Lexington has long been on our list. At over four hours, it’s too far for a regular weekend and too close for a weeklong vacation. Thus Lex lands on the three day weekend wishlist.
