After a brief day trip to Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Park this summer, we knew we wanted to come back and camp for a long weekend. We got lucky and found one site available on short notice for Columbus Day weekend.

For a second weekend in a row, we visited an Army Corp lake and stayed at an Army Corp campground close to home in Southern Illinois. Last week it was Rend Lake. This week it was Carlyle Lake.  Rend Lake is close to home. Although we have camped around the lake a couple times, this isn’t a area that we know well. We took a recent weekend to stay at South Sandusky Campground to be tourists about forty minutes from home.  |
