Our Thanksgiving trip was a journey of two extremely opposite campgrounds: Cades Cove Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains just off The Loop, and Carolina Pines RV Resort in Conway, SC, 15 minutes from Myrtle Beach. As opposite the two spots are, both may be a contender for the best campground ever.

Columbus Belmont State Park in Kentucky is situated high on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. The park preserves Civil War earthworks and tells a unique story of the war. Plus, the campground is a relaxing destination, making Columbus Belmont a great mix of outdoors, history, and relaxation.
Ferne Clyffe is 30 minutes from home. On this late September weekend, the kids slept outside in the tent. See our weekend in pictures below, or check out our prior visits to Ferne Clyffe.
The Rock Pond at Belle Ridge Retreat is the most unique campground amenity we've seen recently, and maybe the most popular amongst our family.
The Kentucky Lakes/Prizer Point KOA is typically packed on an August weekend, but during our visit, we virtually had the place to ourselves.
