Going to Santa Claus, Indiana to celebrate Halloween has to bring to mind The Nightmare Before Christmas. We grabbed a last minute site for the first of the six Halloween weekends at the popular Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort. Lake Rudolph is big and the layout makes it feel even bigger. The campground is very spread out across several sections, plus it is very hilly. There is a large water park and the campground goes around it. They have about 450 sites, at least 200 being rental RVs or cabins. Lake Rudolph can easily accommodate a lot of guests with varying needs. If you want an ideal site and one of the 240 golf rental golf carts, you'll need to book in May for Halloween - the following year. Golf carts were booked up 18 months ago according to several guests we talked to. Being as hilly as it is, golf carts would be a nice treat! Besides the water park and pool, there are also two playgrounds, a really nice putt-putt golf, two game rooms, a hiking path, two camp stores, a lake for fishing and paddle boating, shuttle stops for Holiday World, two basketball courts, pavilions, gem mining, sand volleyball, and golf cart rentals with dedicated parking for them. There is a lot going on. You can't bring your own golf cart, but you better bring your own decorations. The Halloween weekend campers take decorating seriously, you will want to decorate your camper or cabin, your golf cart, yourself, and probably your pets. With only a string of lights and our Halloween costumes, we felt out of place. With the Halloween weekend, there were special activities including hay rides, a golf cart parade, a carnival with inflatables and crafts, bonfire ghost stories, Halloween movie night, a dance party, trick or treating, bags contest for teens, and a costume contest. We dressed up as characters from Ghostbusters and the Keymaster won third place against tough competition! Awards were also given out for best decorated campsite and golf cart. We really enjoyed trick or treating at the campground. With the competitive decorating and costumes, walking around felt very nostalgic of our childhood Halloweens. So "come with us and you will see: This our town of Halloween" at Lake Rudolph.
We've done the big campground Halloween experience and we have plenty more planned for our fall Cricket Camping experiences!
